From 1987 to 1990 I studied economic cybernetics at the University of Tartu and from October 1990 onwards, at the University of Kiel in Germany and graduated from it in 1996, majoring in macroeconomics. My minor speciality was financial economics. During my studies (from 1993 to 1995) I worked as a research assistant in the Kiel Institute for the World Economy, a leading academic institution in Germany.
My first job in Estonia was the position of controller at Eesti Telefon AS. After that, from August 1997 to July 2013, I worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers AS (PwC). These years provided me with first-class experience in solving sophisticated and complex economic problems, as my work in a leading consultancy company gave me the opportunity to participate in large-scale and complex projects. Industry-wise, I have dealt with energy, transport and health care. My work at PwC was invaluable input in the development of my economic analysis skills and in putting them into practice, which was strongly supported by the professional training system of the company. I am confident that alongside principal skills, this period also fostered the development of top class quality and service standards.
My main areas of expertise include consultations in financial and investment issues (Corporate Finance), feasibility studies and economic analyses. In the course of my work as a consultant, I have participated in more than 200 projects in different spheres of financial consultancy and in different sectors. The most important ones include valuations, infrastructure financing (PPPs and cost-benefit analysis) and economic studies. During my work at PwC, I held the position of being a leading expert in macroeconomics and published regular economic surveys in In Time magazine. My work has provided me an opportunity to work with auditors, lawyers, technical consultants from different areas and also with my colleagues from other PwC offices in international projects.
